Orange County

Consulting for Orange County businesses, in person.

Orange County sits up the coast from our San Diego base, inside the Southern California area where we offer in-person work. It is a county of established mid-sized companies, regulated manufacturers and a very large hospitality economy. This page covers that economy, what it tends to mean for operations and technology, and how an engagement runs for a business there.

Abrams & Luchanski is headquartered in San Diego. We meet clients in person across Southern California — San Diego County, Orange County, Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire, the Coachella Valley, and Ventura and Santa Barbara counties — and work remotely with businesses everywhere else in California and the United States.

The regional economy

Medical devices, tourism and a deep bench of mid-sized firms.

The Orange County Business Council describes medical devices and tourism as the established sectors that continue to anchor the county’s economic development, with newer industries — it names space travel and electric vehicles — choosing Orange County for their headquarters. The Council calls it the nation’s sixth largest county.

The Census Bureau’s figures show the scale of the business base behind that: more than a hundred thousand employer establishments and over 1.5 million people on employer payrolls in 2023, in a county of about 3.1 million residents. Tourism is visible in the numbers too: accommodation and food services sales exceeded $17 billion in 2022.

What that adds up to, for our purposes, is a high density of companies that are past the startup stage but below the size where a dedicated operations or systems team exists — the businesses where the knowledge of how everything connects can end up resting with a single person.

What it means for the work

Growth that outruns the systems underneath it.

Medical device companies and their suppliers operate under quality-system requirements: design and development records, supplier qualification, complaint handling, electronic records that have to stand up to inspection. In a smaller company those processes frequently live across a document system, shared drives and email, held together by the quality lead. Any change to operations — a new product line, a new site, an acquisition — has to be made without breaking that record.

Accommodation and food services took in more than $17 billion here in 2022, and at that volume an operator with several restaurants, venues or properties needs a nightly read on labour, covers and margin by site, not a month-end reconciliation that explains what already went wrong. The headquarters that the Business Council says space and electric-vehicle companies are bringing to the county raise a different need: finance, purchasing and reporting stood up quickly around a team that is still arriving, before informal workarounds harden into the way things are done.

    Implementation oversight

For regulated manufacturers, coordinating the plan and the vendors of a systems change around the company’s quality system, with validation and sign-off staying with its quality team — so the record stays intact while the tooling improves.

  • 02
    Organizational improvement

For mid-sized firms that grew quickly, aligning roles and reporting lines with how the business now runs can help where decision rights have not kept pace with growth.

  • 03
    Transaction support

Across more than 100,000 employer establishments, a buyer, a seller or a successor is always somewhere in the process; diligence support, valuation analysis and integration planning are for owner-led firms on either side of that deal.

    Data and reporting, through Nexos

For multi-location hospitality and service operators, reporting from one source of truth rather than a weekly spreadsheet merge is usually the first build to consider.

These are the services the region’s industry mix tends to call for — reasoning from the economy above, not a list of past engagements. All services

Working together

Workshops in your offices, the build in between.

For an Orange County business, a paid engagement’s discovery is planned as on-site days: a first visit to meet leadership and walk the core process, then focused sessions with the teams that run it. Planning those as full days rather than scattered hours makes the drive worthwhile for both sides and gets more observed than described.

Between visits, the analysis and any build run remotely with a standing weekly call. The plan brings the founder back in person for the recommendation workshop and again for rollout and training.

How the work runs

  1. Free technology audit. A call, then a written audit that ranks what in your business is worth building or automating.
  2. Fixed-scope proposal. What will be built, what is left out and the price, in writing before any work starts.
  3. The build. A weekly check-in call, a shared progress board showing what is done, what is next and what is waiting on you, and working software to try early.

The free technology audit is a call and a written audit, wherever you are, Southern California included. In Southern California, on-site sessions (workshops, discovery at your premises, design reviews, acceptance testing and training) are part of a paid build, not the free audit.

Who does the work. Aidan Luchans founded Abrams & Luchanski in San Diego in 2024, and designed and built the Nexos Platform, a multi-tenant AI operations platform: AI agents, multi-step workflows with human approval, connections to roughly 90 business tools, and private knowledge search. Aidan leads both the firm’s advisory work and Nexos’s engineering, so the person who scopes a project also builds it. About Aidan Luchans

Questions

Orange County questions, answered.

  • I

Is Abrams & Luchanski an established firm? Have you worked with Orange County companies before?

The firm was founded in San Diego in 2024 by Aidan Luchans, who leads every engagement; it has no Orange County office and no client track record yet to point to. What you get is a fixed scope and quote after the first call, then the founder on site for the discovery, workshops and rollout that the quoted engagement covers.

  • II

You are based in San Diego. Do you really come to Orange County?

Yes. Orange County is part of the Southern California area we cover in person. The free audit is a call plus a written audit; once an engagement is agreed and paid for, its discovery, leadership workshops and training happen at your offices, and the work between them runs remotely.

  • III

We are a regulated medical device company. Can you change our systems without disturbing our quality records?

Before proposing any change we would map which system holds the design and development records, supplier controls and complaint files required under 21 CFR Part 820 — since February 2026 the FDA’s Quality Management System Regulation, which adopts ISO 13485 by reference — and which electronic records and signatures fall under Part 11, then build your quality team’s verification steps into the rollout plan. Your quality team keeps sign-off.

  • IV

How is consulting priced for an Orange County business?

The same way as anywhere else we work. Strategy and operations engagements have no published price list; each one is scoped and quoted for the specific problem after the first call. Technology work carries the published Nexos prices: the technology audit is free, and builds start at $4,900 per fixed-scope project.

  • V

We are considering buying a competitor. Is that something you help with?

Transaction support is one of the firm’s services: diligence support, valuation analysis and integration planning for buyers and sellers of closely held businesses.
